Collaborative Visual Analytics

While visual analysis tools are often designed for a single analyst, answering questions about data and making decisions is often a collaborative process. I am exploring tools and techniques to support the collaborative analysis process. My former PhD student Ali Sarvghad explored how revealing dimension coverage information (which dimensions had been explored and in which combinations) could help analysts coordinate their work. My former PhD student Narges Mahyar explored collaborative notetaking as a way to build common ground during visual analysis. Tableau Research intern Mona Loorak explored how Tableau workbooks could be extended with change management tools to support handoff in collaboration.
